To help celebrate the holiday season I have arranged for two (2) database demonstrations in the library’s Griffin Room. All interested parties are welcome to attend.

Transportation Cost Estimate Resources

Management 1102 teams thinking about pricing their new products are looking for suggestions on how to estimate shipping costs. These are just a few of the many web sites that offer freight quote comparisons.

Alternately you may solicit quotes from leading air, rail, motor, or marine carriers.

For a primer on how the freight industry operates see Standard & Poor’s Industry Survey: Commercial Transportation on Market Insight. The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals provides a glossary of industry terms, case studies and reports on trends. http://www.cscmp.org/ For a broader insight into logistical issues see Handbook of Supply Chain Management Ref HD39.5.H36 2001.

For international imports and exports, don’t forget to find out what customs and duties apply by visiting the U.S. Customs and Boarder Protection home page at http://www.cbp.gov/.

I added this year’s version of the Management 1102 presentation to the course pages link. Further, I updated the featured resources with the SRDS Lifestyle Market Analyst. If you are in any one of many classes this Fall it is likely you will probably use the Lifestyle Market Analyst.

Appointment Scheduler and Bloomberg

Wednesday, September 6th, 2006

The appointment scheduler should be operating correctly at this time. Let me know if there are problems.

Also, the Bloomberg Laptop, formerly available in Falvey Library, is now available at Bartley 2008 during my normally scheduled office hours.
