According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Michael Nutter won the election for Mayor.
If you notice, 222,805 votes were cast for Mr. Nutter, and there were 46,040 cast for his opponent, plus an additional 1,002 votes for the third party candidate.
This equals 269,847 votes. The Census Bureau states that Philadelphia (The City) has a 2006 estimated population of 1,448,394 people.
What were the other 1.2 million of us doing yesterday?
